  For those with family in the org...

  ...have they justified the un involvement to you by saying that the wts was only getting information for their magazines, that they weren't "aiding" them in their political work, so the involvement was ok?.

  imo, there is no justification for the un invovement.

  how do you reason with your family when they defend the actions of the wts?

  My family is in denial about my departure from associating with all things WT. So they don't discuss or allow to be discussed anything having to do with WT issues. I think they may be afraid they will lose contact with their only grandchildren if they knew we've quit. My dad is very content being PO in his congregation...having a daughter leave the Borg would be too embarrasing. So if he doesn't really know it's better, he can just tell people we are 'slackers.' It helps being several hundred miles away too. My guess is that he would say that 'he just follows orders' if confronted with any of WTs dirty secrets. Sad, no personal conscience.

  Rocky's mom is also in denial, and while she listens to the facts we present, she defends WT and says that "Jehovah will take care of it in his time."

  Looooong Prayers!

  ok, who remembers all those long prayers?

  especially at the district conventions!.

  we had our convetions at a small hockey arena and the stairs were really steep.

  I remember a CO poking fun at the long prayers some would make before meals....'bless the temple once, bless the temple twice' and so forth. Seems like some of those long convention prayers were to 'bless the faithful slave once, bless them twice....' Glad I don't have to put up with it anymore! Think I would gag or pass out with all the blessing for something so blasphemous.

  nightmares

  i grew up having nightmares about armageddon, satan and, most of all jehovah.

  i am 25 now and i still get nightmares, and they're always about these same things.

  i was wondering if my brain is overactive, or if other people on this site get nightmares about things they learned as a witness.

  GreenDragon - thank you for the info on sleep paralysis. It's something I have experienced for years but have not known what it was.

  When I was still associated with WT I would have frequent, regular sleep paralysis, never really remembering what the content of the dream. These started when I was a teenager. I had a dream that really felt like someone was crushing me. The elders back then went through our house and made me and my roommates get rid of a bunch of stuff they thought might be 'demonizing' us (one of my roomies had to destroy her Earth, Wind, and Fire album!). When I married, the dreams were less frequent. Really freaked out Rocky because I would wake up screaming. He finally figured out I was screaming 'Jehovah.' He usually wakes me up to stop the dream. Last year he started listening carefully to my screams and did not wake me right away. This allowed me to remember more of the dream and has given me an opportunity to sort them out. The dreams are now farther between, although they seem to come in clusters...a few nights in a row, and then none for several months. As far as I know, the dreams are not about Armageddon. One of my recent dreams had a faceless figure cloaked in black, and yes, very malevolent. The day after the dream I'm usually out of sorts, they are so disturbing.

  eating the emblems AFTER memorial...

  sorry this is a little late for a memorial post, but did any of ya'll eat the emblems like it was just ordinary food immediately after the memorial?

  they always did this at my kh, even the elders would be handing it out and we always would fight over who got a piece of the "bread.

  " this usually occured out in the parking lot after most of the new/interested people had already high tailed it outta there.

  In the congregation we were most recently associated with the brother who brought the wine usually brought some home-made stuff. Dont' know who makes the bread now...I made it for years, upon years. There was a gathering at the home of one of the other elders "to contemplate further the implications of the Memorial celebration." LOL - just another name for a party. They ate the bread and drank the wine. Reminds me of what my sister thinks about holiday candies (Christmas candy,Valentines chocolates, Easter candy). She buys the stuff after the holiday when it is on sale, and since it is not the holiday anymore, somehow it is ok to eat and not participating in the holiday. I may be splitting hairs but it feels like a fine line again, just like 'what is the difference between celebrating birthdays and celebrating wedding anniversaries.' If you are going to do one, why not the other? If holidays are so bad, why have anything to do with them at all? would you put up a Santa Claus in July, just because it's not Christmas anymore?

  playing on the radio now is jackson browne's "running on empty".

  this brought to mind all those times i would be driving back to nacogdoches on that winding texas two lane highway with the dogwoods lacing through the pines, the windows down and me singing harmony.

  all the while, i'm pushing that pedal down...faster ....and faster.

  Movies and TV Shows You Didn't Watch Because You Were A JW

  this week i mentioned how i never saw the movie "ghost" because it was considered "demonistic".

  i also volunteered that that i could not watch "bewitched", although "i dream of jeannie" was a conscience matter......any thing you didn't watch because you were a witness?

  My mother-in-law prohibited our daughters from watching The Simpsons, but would let the younger grandsons watch Seinfeld. In the 80s Fantasy Island was taboo. Funny tho, The Littlest Mermaid was off limits but most of elders kids were circulating a coyp of Angels in the Outfield. Go figure!

  I love them! didn't know they could be bought retail. A local cafe' has them on their menu. Especially therapeutic when you feel like you need to 'bite someone's head off'!

  well, i guess tomorrow is the big m day, 4th of april.

  anyone have any big apostate plans or will you just stay out of sight?

  i may drive by my local kh where i live now to see if there are a lot of people attending and who knows distribute some of my own literature.

  Re: Daylight Saving Time...yes, the congregation where my parents attend share the KH. They are not scheduled to start Memorial until 9pm. Double duty yawn!

  Wasasister: I understand the desire to keep from hurting feelings. Rocky's mom would like nothing more than for us to attend tonight. And as much as I would like to keep her happy, keeping under the radar is more important.

  Mulan...actually it was my brother, not my sis, surprisingly. Sis is actually is mad at our brother for spreading the rumours about us. But it hasn't stopped her from going to the KH. She is trying to be more regular with meeting attendance. She got pushy with our oldest child about memorial attendance, and that backfired on her (and she doesn't know that I know what happened). She is willing to accept us as long as we don't talk about 'spiritual' things. Even tho she is a slacker, she sure defends WT! As you saw at Sharon's memorial, she left the room like someone was going to try to kill her!

  Rocky and I were trying to decide if we would stop in...make them wonder what we're up to... since we're not DF'd or DA'd. The CO paid a visit to Rocky last month, but did not invite him to Memorial, didn't mention me or the kids either. Bumped into a couple of JWs the other day (almost literrally). They didn't really invite me formally but asked me if I was going to go to memorial. Don't think they would have spoken to me but there were too many people in the hallway who would have seen their rude behavior. It's a small town - it would have gotten around quickly. Kinda don't think we'll go...we like being out of their radar and going would just make them look our way again. I have enjoyed the past 5 years of thinking (and living) outside the Borg box. And besides, just learned from my sis that our brother is telling people we are apostate...which is funny, cuz he stopped talking to us before we quit going to the KH. The point is not that we are or are not apostates, but where did Brother 'Goody-goody' get his information? and what right does he have telling people my business without asking me?
